華奢な女の子が大きな剣を持って戦うことに多くの人がおかしいと思う、屈強な男を主人公にすべき的な意見が海外で出ているという記事を見た。たしかにおかしい。それでいうと、日本で生まれるロボットの発想もおかしい。戦うことに最適化したロボットが人型である必要はない。GT-Rもおかしい。今でこそスポーツカーらしい姿になってきているが、もともとセダンであったスカイラインにでっかいエンジンを積んで、いろいろスポイラーとかくっつけてかなり不自然な姿に見える。これは、ランエボやインプレッサWRXについても同じだ。

要するに、目的合理性が感じられないということだ。もともと別の目的でつくられているもののカタチや構造をそのままにしながら、無理矢理、別の目的に向かって作り替える。目的に手段が従うのではない、手段を温存して、目的に無理くり合わせていく。おかしいのだけれど、この発想は何かおもしろいものを含んでいると思う。

とても納得のいく説明。

そっか、稲作もそうだね。日本の気候風土に稲はマッチしなかったのに、水田をつくり、品種改良をして主食にしてしまった。目的合理性がない、ことが日本人たらしめている要素か。
